At The Holistic Hideaway, we believe that eating well, moving more, taking the time to relax and keeping your mind active is the key to better Health and Wellbeing.
As a qualified Fitness Instructor and Swimming Coach keeping healthy is a real passion of mine. Since becoming a mother to 3 young kids and working however I have found it difficult to find the time and energy sometimes to exercise. That is why I want to share tips on how to realistic fit exercise into the busiest of schedules. This consists of activities that you can do in the comfort of your own home, with no equipment, with only a small amount of time and a small area required to workout in. The exciting thing about it is that you can get the whole family involved, and lead by example.
The food we eat also has a huge impact on how well our body and mind can function. My rule of thumb when choosing the food I eat is that I ask myself, ‘is it going to hinder or heal me’. As a keen baker and cook, I like to try and explore new ways of making tasty, but healthy food. All of which can be made in a short space of time, with very little know-how and with very few ingredients. I also believe knowledge is power, and by educating yourself on food can help you to make better food choices.
It can be easy to run out of time in your day to day life for downtime. However, finding the time to relax is extremely important to your overall state of well-being, both mentally and physically. Stress really is the enemy as the effect on the body and mind can be immense. When your body is in a state of total relaxation however it is in the position to heal itself and is why it is so important to regularly relax and take time out from everyday stresses.
We all know that saying, ‘use it or lose it’ and that is so important when it comes to brain health. My grandparents are in their 80s and they are as sharp as a tack and they swear by doing a crossword a day to keep them mentally with it.
